The Museum of the American Railroad exists to share the rich history and heritage, as well as the current and future development of the institution of the American Railroad. This is accomplished through artistic, cultural, and educational programming & outreach.

To this end, the museum collects and preserves related items for use in interpretive and experiential exhibits. The museum also acts as a community and national resource for the study, enjoyment of, and participation in railroad-related subjects.
