Club House

Category: Mental Health & Crisis Intervention - Mental Disorders
Beneficiaries: Mentally/emotionally disabled
Priority: 1
Budget: $65,000.00

The clients participate in a structured program that provides meaningful activities and relationships as well as education and training in the skills of daily living. This client population is about evenly divided between those with severe and persistent mental illnesses such as schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder, those with cognitive impairments caused by traumatic brain injury or illness, and those clients with severe physical limitations. The difficulties of these clients are further impacted by the trauma inherent in homelessness. The overall objective is to give these clients greater fulfillment in their daily lives.

Definition of long-term success:
Evaluating our objective of teaching our mentally ill and physically handicapped clients “life skills” is based on a wide variety of measures, including psychiatric symptoms, social role functioning, interpersonal relationships, alcohol and substance abuse, and day-to-day functioning (the ability to take prescribed medications) before and after they begin participating in Austin Street’s Club House Program.
Definition of short-term success:
