Promotes public awareness and responsible attitudes toward criminal justice issues through media converage, online information, public speaking, and professional conferences and workshops. The agency website provides concept papers on issues of concern to corrections professionals as well as concerned citizens.

Definition of long-term success:

Long term success can be defined as when media outlets, social service agencies and correctional facilities seek OPEN INC out to provide information regarding the 'correctional experience' and provide staff training on how to deal with such topics as reentry, substance abuse issue and employment concerns of the incarcerated and recently released.

Definition of short-term success:

Increased readership of newsletter, continued demand for staff training.

Success monitored by:

Number of newsletter subscribers; number of staff presentations given.

Evidence of success:

Distributed information materials on criminal justice programs to media organizations nationally, published articles in newsletters of other correctional nonprofit agencies, provided background on post release barriers for a local newspaper, and provided professional development presentations to social service staffs working with released offenders.

Currently the INSIGHTS newsletter has a mailed distribution of over 7,500; with each mailing, additional requests to be added to maliing list are received.
