Women's Program

Category: Human Services - Family-Based Services
Beneficiaries: Single parents; Children and youth (infants-19 years); Females, All ages or age unspecified
Priority: 1
Budget: $105,000.00

The full scope of the Women’s Program includes coordinating efforts with Child Protective Services as needed, assisting females in obtaining SSI, Social Security Cards/Payments, and obtaining legal ID’s; providing work readiness classes that include training on the filling out of job applications, on-the-job training in office work, retail work (at the Thrift Store), building maintenance work and kitchen work; Psychological counseling sessions, (both group and one-on-one), avoiding physical violence classes and pastoral counseling sessions. Children of our clients are given transportation to area schools, provided school clothes and school supplies, and allowed supervised recreational play time on our basketball court and playground. The program also includes social activities such as birthday parties, cook outs, and trips to area restaurants to allow the women to become acclimated to public environments again.

Definition of long-term success:
For those who choose to take part in the various counseling and step-up programs, each client is reviewed with monthly individual measurements that include emotional changes and progress in vocational skills, coping skills and problem solving skills. Each is also measured for advances in social interaction and improvement in overall appearance.
Definition of short-term success:
For those who come for emergency shelter only, we consider it a success if the client is safely inside our facility, accepts a hot shower and clean clothes, and finds respite from the elements.
Success monitored by:
Executive Director
Director of Women's Services
Vocational Coordinator
Evidence of success:
Families are preserved, and program participants successfully integrated into mainstream society.
