Dallas is fortunate to have a thriving arts community including theater, music, dance, museums and other cultural organizations. A 2010 economic impact study commissioned by the Business Council for the Arts found that North Texas arts and cultural organizations provide approximately 6,000 performances/exhibitions and approximately 23,000 audience opportunities annually. Local arts organizations generate more than 7.8 million admissions to their performances/exhibitions each year, of which approximately 22% are free or at a reduced-price.
Arts and cultural organizations in North Texas are also responsible for employing more than 1,300 full-time personnel and providing contract employment to an additional 4,000 individuals. Cumulatively, nonprofit arts and cultural organizations in North Texas contributed more than $3.05 billion to our region’s economy over the past three years. Over the last 20 years, the total aggregated economic impact to North Texas is approximately $15 billion (adjusted for inflation). (Source: www.ntbca.org)
