2013 North Texas Giving Day - September 19, 2013
Mark your calendars for the 5th Annual North Texas Giving Day, which will be held from 7 a.m. to Midnight on Thursday, September 19, 2013.
North Texas Giving Day 2013 is a day when nonprofits with an approved DonorBridge profile are eligible to receive matching funds when donations are made online through DonorBridge. DonorBridge is run by Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT), with the support of The Dallas Foundation and the Center for Nonprofit Management. As of 5/13/13, over $1,000,000 in matching funds and prizes have been raised!
Do I even want to take part in North Texas Giving Day?
Of course you do! All credit card donations of $25 or more made online through DonorBridge will be eligible for a percentage of matching money, making money received on North Texas Giving Day go even farther in supporting our community.
How will matching dollars be determined? Is it a “dollar for dollar” match?
Donations of $25 and above will receive a match of some percentage. Matching money is not a straight “dollar for dollar” match. The matching amount will be determined until after Giving Day by taking the total matching funds available as of Giving Day, and dividing the total amount of donations from the day, to determine the percentage by which each donation will be matched.
Amount of matching / Total amount donated to all nonprofits = % match per dollar
$1,000,000 (the amount of match funds) / $12,000,000 (the total donation amount raised) = $0.08 match per dollar
$4,000,000 (the total donation amount raised)
So, in this example of having $1,000,000 available in matching funds, if a nonprofit raised $20,000 in donations on 2011 North Texas Giving Day, the amount of their matching funds would be $1,600.00. Again, this is simply an example to explain the formula.
Does it cost anything to participate?
There is no charge to the donor for participating in Giving Day. The nonprofit will receive the full value of the gift, however, online credit card gifts are subject to 3.99% processing fee. Communities Foundation of Texas, The Dallas Foundation nor the Center for Nonprofit Management receive any money for supporting and overseeing Giving Day. The matching amount will be determined based on the total donation amount, before the processing fee, and donors will receive a tax deduction on the full donation amount. Following Giving Day, nonprofits will receive a check including the total amount donated, minus the 3.99% fee, plus the match (anticipated to be well above 3.9%).

Yes, you can! CFT donors can use their regular login and password that has been provided to them, and The Dallas Foundation donors can use the login set to them, to access DonorBridge.
