Early College High Schools
The Texas High School Project (THSP) is creating new options for underserved students by funding higher education systems that establish Early College High Schools on their campuses or at related sites in high needs areas of the state. This initiative focuses on students who lack academic preparation, find the cost of college is prohibitive, face English language challenges or must balance family obligations and completion of their education.
THSP Early College High Schools will let students achieve two years of college credit or an associate degree at the same time they are earning a high school diploma. These Early College High Schools will help create a seamless transition between high school and college.
THSP/CFT has committed $9 million to Early College High Schools. Grants have been made to four organizations to establish 13 Early College High Schools.
