Education Leadership

THSP's Education Leadership initiative is jointly funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Wallace Foundation and conducted in partnership with the Texas Education Agency. This initiative was established to recognize the critical role quality school leaders, including principals and teachers, play in the success of school reform.

The Education Leadership initiative is reviewing proposals for pilot programs for principal certification from university systems that will create more rigorous certification requirements and more specialized training for high school principals. Building on best practices nationwide, the programs will incorporate many innovative elements such as multi-disciplinary curriculum, learning experience in authentic contexts, mentors and cohort groups, and extensive collaboration with area schools.
