In this session, we will share data from two soon-to-be released reports:

2018 Assets & Opportunities Profile for Dallas

In 2012, Communities Foundation of Texas and the Thomson Family Foundation commissioned The Assets & Opportunity Profile for Dallas, to better understand wealth, poverty and opportunity in the City of Dallas, Dallas County and the 12-county North Texas region. The study by Prosperity Now, a national asset building intermediary, profiled a Dallas where many people face financial vulnerability that was not previously understood.

On October 15th, Communities Foundation of Texas and Prosperity Now will be presenting the new 2018 Asset & Opportunity Profile for Dallas, that provides updated data on asset poverty within Dallas and the North Texas region. We will also highlight some examples of local solutions implemented in recent years that are specifically targeted to help families grow assets and move towards greater economic security.

Racial Wealth Divide Report for Dallas

The racial wealth divide is broad and deep in thousands of communities across the United States, including here in Dallas and across North Texas. JPMorgan Chase and Prosperity Now recently announced a three-million-dollar, multi-city commitment to strengthen the asset-building capacity and connectivity of nonprofit organizations led by people of color.  This initiative launch in Dallas with the release of the Racial Wealth Divide Report for Dallas, presenting data and challenges of racial economic inequality within Dallas.

By understanding the issues, history and data, there is greater opportunity for us to come together as a community to identify and advance the best practices and policies and strengthen resources for nonprofits of color in our region.

We hope that you will plan to join us! If you have questions about the discussion, please don’t hesitate to contact Wende Burton  or Yvette Ruiz.
