As the associate of Higher Education for Progress and Completion at CFT, Jay supports strategies within the Higher Education and Workforce Development portfolio and contributes to other organizational priorities.

Prior to joining CFT, Jay was a student success coach at Southern Methodist University, where he worked with students and directed a credit recovery program for first-generation and Pell-eligible students. Prior to SMU, Jay worked for Arlington ISD as a Reading 180 teacher, he was the assistant director of leadership and services for East Texas A&M University’s Office of Intercultural Engagement and Leadership, and as assistant director of the Mary V. Jordan Multicultural Center at East Tennessee State University.

Jay holds a bachelor’s in history with a minor in social science from Northwestern State University and a Master of Education in education leadership from East Tennessee State University. He is working toward a doctorate in higher education administration at East Texas A&M University.

COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP / BOARD SERVICE

Jay is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. He is the mentoring program chair for the American College Personnel Association’s Pan African Network Foundation. In 2023, he was named to the 30 under 40 Sawubona Class in the category of civic engagement and services initiatives by ACPA’s Pan African Network.
