Helen's Project
Helen’s Project provides hope to communities by providing family stability, health access, and positive community change. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Helen's Project has been engaged by Parkland Hospital and UT Southwestern in the transportation of patients receiving chemotherapy, radiation, and other medical appointments. In addition to mobility, clients are also in need of COVID-19 patient protective equipment. Most clients referred to Helen's Project by Parkland and UT Southwestern are from low-income backgrounds. About 75% of their transportation clients are people of color from under-resourced communities. As the impact of COVID-19 has become severe, so has the number of referrals received for transportation. Funding will be used to provide transportation to clients and provide services to victims of domestic violence. They anticipate serving 300 clients.
