Texas Trees Foundation
Texas Trees Foundation strategically plants trees to build a cleaner, greener, cooler North Texas. They determine highest priority planting locations based on their research of urban heat island and current urban tree canopy coverage with the overall goal of creating healthy communities. Funds are requested for Cool Schools, their TEKS-based (Texas Essential Knowlege and Skills) program that creates outdoor learning areas at elementary schools ensuring "no child is left inside."
Trinity Environmental Academy
Trinity Environmental Academy is an environmentally focused charter school educating more than 400 students, 91% of whom are economically disadvantaged. The need for social and emotional approaches are critical to combating the adverse effects of generational poverty on students, and they have implemented restorative practices and positive behavior intervention systems. Funds are requested for teacher training for trauma-informed education, curriculum, and counseling support for students.
