CFT Staff Welcomes New Additions

Monica Egert Smith, a respected professional with broad knowledge of the North Texas nonprofit community, has joined CFT as a key member of the grants staff. Previously senior director of community services for The Dallas Morning News and WFAA-TV, Ms. Egert Smith will administer CFT’s discretionary grants program.

Ms. Smith’s duties will include meeting with grant seekers, evaluating proposals, preparing grant summaries for the board, preparing grant agreements, monitoring grant outcomes and effectiveness, and communicating with the public about CFT grants.

"Monica Egert Smith is exceptionally well qualified to administer the foundation’s

discretionary grants program," said J. Cook, vice president of grants. "Along with the significant grantmaking experience gained while administering The Dallas Morning News Charities, Monica brings to CFT a sensitive and compassionate understanding of community needs. She has keen insight into the abilities of

local nonprofit organizations to successfully address them." Other new CFT employees include Charles Daniel, IT support; Kathy Gandy, accounting manager; Maria Glenn, administrative assistant; Jennifer Smith, executive assistant; and Sherri Strayer, event coordinator.
