Caruth Commits To Education

Caruth Awards Commit! Up to $1.5 million over 3 years

THROUGH THE CARUTH FOUNDATION at CFT, Commit! has been awarded up to $1.5 million over three years to help transform the way our community approaches education.

Led by Todd Williams, Commit! is the primary backbone entity supporting the civic educational infrastructure for Dallas County, a region which contains roughly 2.5 million residents within 32 cities and nearly 800,000 students in early childhood, K-12 and higher education systems.

“The challenge is great—across Dallas County, only 13% of public school students who start ninth grade graduate ready for college or a career. And, readiness is only 4% of African American and Hispanic students, who together represent 80% of all first graders regionally,” says Williams. “We’re extraordinarily thankful for the Caruth grant to help us improve these statistics.”

Commit! is leading transformational change in our local system.

“Commit! is leading transformational change in our local education system,” says Dr. J. Cook, executive director of W. W. Caruth, Jr. Foundation. “This is the kind of bold work that Mr. Caruth would have championed in his lifetime, and we are proud to continue his legacy.”
