Veteran Financier brings new level of expertise to CFT
COMMUNITIES FOUNDATION OF TEXAS is proud to welcome Ken Hersh as its newest trustee. CFT trustees are selected for their wide-ranging knowledge of community needs, recordof charitable service and fiscal responsibility. Hersh and his CFT colleagues lead the largest community foundation in Texas and one of the largest in the United States, ranked in the top 15 nationally for assets managed, gifts received and grants paid.
“Ken’s investment management experience will be critical as our board of trustees stewards $775million in assets across nearly 900 charitable funds,” said John McStay, chairman of CFT’s investment committee. “Our donors should have the utmost confidence in his knowledge and expertise.”
Hersh, co-founder and CEO of NGP Energy Capital Management, is a veteran financier who brings more than 20 years of experience to CFT. He coordinates NGP’s financial activities, co-manages the company’s investment portfolio, and is credited with pioneering the now-common “owner-manager” investment model in the natural resources industry. Before co-founding NGP, he specialized in oil and gas financing at Morgan Stanley. Born and raised in Dallas, Hersh earned his B.A. from Princeton University and his MBA from Stanford. Hersh and his wife Julie have two children and live in Dallas.
“I’m honored to join this outstanding group of trustees,” said Hersh. “I will work to use my financial experience to further CFT’s leadership role and legacy as a place where nonprofits and donors come totogether to serve the important needs of our community.”
