SEVERAL have asked what brought me to Communities Foundation of Texas. Easy. I was inspired.
I was first inspired by this organization’s history and reputation. Then, by the important work it is doing today to improve life in our community. Finally, I was inspired by the potential of what we can do tomorrow if we work together.
As many of you have heard or read, my inspiration was also fueled by a defining personal moment. Shortly after CFT expressed interest in me as a CEO candidate, my 1-year-old grandson was rushed to Dallas Children’s emergency where he spent 16 days in the hospital, mostly in ICU. While I was there, I saw several plaques in the hospital lobby highlighting the difference donors have made in enabling Children’s to become the institution that it is. And there, among the plaques, I saw Communities Foundation of Texas. Then and there I was struck by the unique opportunity. I had to make a difference of my own. I was hooked!
There is an energy at CFT along with a shared passion for our mission and what we do. We have extraordinary people working here who bring their passion every day to execute against a mission to make tomorrow better. The people we work with, our trustees, donors and our good friends, have the same drive and passion. Every day, I feel the energy from this community and I will do everything I can to keep that momentum high. This energy will be our catalyst to set and achieve ambitious goals to make a lasting impact to improving life in North Texas and beyond.
