Dance Council of North Texas
The Dance Council of North Texas is a unique service organization that creates opportunities for the community to promote and support all forms of dance. Funding will help produce Dallas Dances 2020: Women Powering the Moves - Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Women's Suffrage. This community-wide, months-long event will celebrate and honor women artists, particularly dancers and choreographers, who helped pave the way for U.S women to gain the right to vote. Leading up to the showcase performances, Dallas Dances 2020 will launch Women Powering the Moves Community Series, a series of lectures/demonstrations featuring Dallas-based women choreographers and dancers to demonstrate their work, talk about their career experiences, and celebrate and educate about the history of the 19th Amendment. The Council plans to conduct these community events in 8 selected branches of the Dallas Public Library. As an organization, they serve 150,000 individuals annually.
