Echo Theatre's mission is to produce the works of women playwrights in order to bridge the gender gap that persists in live theatre. Funding will support the production of It's My Party, a new play that celebrates and educates audiences about key players in the suffrage movement. The play will highlight the multiple strategies that different groups used to fight for the 19th Amendment. They will also include the story of Ida B. Wells, an African American suffragist whose work is often overlooked. They will hold the production in September 2020 at The Bath House Cultural Center, and they will include voter registration information in the lobby before and after the show to encourage patrons to get out the vote. They serve 2,600 patrons and over 90 creative artists across Dallas.
