Hazel's Hot Shot Leans on CFT for Community Outreach

Hazel's Hot Shot Leans on CFT for Community Outreach

by Kimberly D. A. Dean

Hazel’s Hot Shot has had a wonderful experience working with CFT! Rather than hiring someone to organize volunteer events within our company, we have leveraged CFT to help structure our outreach. Through their efforts, this program has improved our company culture, improved teamwork in the office and provided a great opportunity for our employees to give back to the community. During the volunteer Plug N’ Play events, our team has spent time working side by side to help several different organizations including Community Partners of Dallas, the Food Bank and Minnie’s Food Pantry.  We have continued to build on several of the nonprofit relationships we’ve built through CFT by providing pro-bono services to multiple organizations including Habitat for Humanity, the Prison Entrepreneurship Program and Community Partners of Dallas.

Most recently, our staff participated in Freedom Day, which proved to be incredibly beneficial. Hazel’s had five contract drivers volunteer to deliver supplies from Home Depot to multiple volunteer sites. Meanwhile, several of our employees and drivers were part of the effort to repair and paint the day care center at the Dallas VA Medical Center. To have CFT’s services right at our company’s fingertips is invaluable. It introduces companies like Hazel’s to the organizations, schools and nonprofits in need of volunteers. CFT has truly helped us to do good, better!

The Fallen Family Fund at CFT supports Freedom Day

“It’s been the greatest gift,” said Nancy. “I feel like what granddad gave us was an opportunity – an opportunity to make a difference and to explore within ourselves something he had already figured out: lifting up the people around you is what matters most. He knew that the fund could bring good to others but also to us as we practiced generosity together.”

Throughout 2018, 1st Global continued to live out one of the company’s guiding principles: aspiring to servant leadership through community outreach and volunteerism. Supported by a now three-year partnership with Communities Foundation of Texas for Business, 1st Global has annually increased its social responsibility efforts in the Dallas community.

Partnering with local companies like NETSCOUT to help business philanthropy thrive

When NETSCOUT needed a partner to implement and launch their local charitable grant program, they turned to Communities Foundation of Texas.

This past fall, NETSCOUT established a charitable fund known as a business-advised fund with CFT. Next, CFT helped NETSCOUT engage their employees in learning how nonprofits are addressing important issues in the community and choosing focus areas for the company’s grant funds.

17th annual volunteer day honors 9/11 through joint service

Honoring the lives lost and forever changed on 9/11/01, CFT for Business presented its 17th annual Freedom Day, a community service event last September that was part of CFT’s North Texas Giving Day. In recognition of the courage and bravery of the men and women who fight for our freedom and those first responders who protect us, we dedicated this day of service to them by supporting local organizations that provide essential services to veterans, first responders and their families.
