Contrary to common perceptions of North Texas’ relatively high income levels, the DFW region’s asset poverty is worse than the national average. 39% of Dallas people are living one crisis away from a financial catastrophe. To support the nonprofits serving these families on the edge, (defined as “working poor,”) Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT) announced their launch of the first Working Families Success Model training in Dallas-Fort Worth as well as the first 18 agencies selected to participate.

With this year's North Texas Giving Day set for September 17, area nonprofits are already gearing up for another exhilarating day of giving. In just six one-day events, Giving Day has pumped $89 million into local nonprofits and broken three national giving day records since 2009. Last year, more than 98,000 gifts totaling $26.3 million were donated, benefiting more than 1,580 local nonprofits.


North Texas Giving Day Surpasses its own National Record - Raises $26.3 million in 18 hours

In a landslide day of giving, the sixth annual North Texas Giving Day exceeded its own national giving day record by raising more than $26.3 million in 18 hours, surpassing 2013 results by more than $1 million. Community-wide events, nonprofit performances and a groundswell of support led to widespread buzz and excitement. The staggering number of more than 98,000 donations exceeded last year’s total of 75,000. This year, 1,580 nonprofits benefitted.

North Texas Giving Day Back for Sixth Year; Aims to Top its own National Record
