Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT) is privileged to partner with our generous donors on the following scholarship opportunities. Starting on January 15th, the 2020 Universal Application will be available to students through our new scholarship portal. 

Please read the scholarship descriptions carefully to understand the criteria. No documentation will be accepted outside of the application portal or after the scholarship deadline that is listed below.


The Simon Greenstone Panatier Scholarship Benefiting Families Impacted by Cancer

The Simon Greenstone Bartlett (SGP) Scholarship awards multiple one-year scholarships to students impacted by cancer. Award amounts vary, but will total $50,000 annually and may be used to support tuition, books and fees at any accredited college or University in the United States or its possessions.

The William A. Turner, Jr. Endowed Scholarship Fund

The William A. Turner, Jr. Endowed Scholarship Fund of Communities Foundation of Texas provides scholarships to enrolled Juniors and Seniors at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas who are pursuing a degree within the College of Education. One or more annual scholarships will be awarded in the amount of up to $5,000 or $6,000 per student. If the student is enrolled in 9 credit hours or more in a semester, the award amount may be up to $5,000 for the academic year. If the student is enrolled in 12 credit hours or more in a semester, the award amount may be up to $6,000 for the school year. Scholarships may be used for tuition and education-related fees.

Van London Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Van London Memorial Scholarship provides a one-year scholarship of up to $15,000 to students who are blind and intend to pursue or are pursuing a college degree, community college degree, or trade school certification. Scholarship monies may be used for tuition, fees, books, and on campus housing and will be paid directly to the awardee’s school.
Eligibility & Selection Criteria:
Eligible applicants must be people who are blind and in good standing as a student. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens or documented legal residents of the United States. Selection is based on scholastic achievement, school and community participation, demonstrated leadership potential, and financial need.

Award: Up to $15,000

Vent-A-Hood Scholarship Fund

The Vent-A-Hood Scholarship provides awards to children, grandchildren or dependents of Vent-A-Hood, Ltd. or Milestone Distributors, Inc. employees who are graduating high school seniors or students currently enrolled in a college or university. This one-year scholarship of up to $4,000 may be used at any accredited college or university in the United States or its possessions. This fund will not benefit children of board members, officers or top management of Vent-A-Hood or Milestone Distributors.

William and Susan Soza Scholarship Fund

The William and Susan Soza Scholarship provides one-year, $1,000 awards to graduating seniors from Presidio High School in Presidio, Texas or previous recipients of the scholarship. Awards may be used for tuition support at any accredited college, university or trade school in the United States. The intent of the scholarship is to make a difference in the lives of young adults by providing quality education to students in financial need who have achieved an average degree of academic excellence.
