John Stephens

Retired Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, AT&T

Trustee John J. Stephens brings decades of expertise in finance and leadership to CFT’s board. At AT&T, John was responsible for financial planning, corporate development, accounting, tax, auditing, treasury, investor relations and corporate real estate. He was previously the senior vice president and controller for AT&T while also serving as chief financial officer for the company’s diversified services business unit. 

John joined AT&T as director-federal taxes in St. Louis in 1992. John holds a B.S.B.A. in accounting from Rockhurst University in Kansas City and a J.D. from Saint Louis University’s Law School. 

COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP / BOARD SERVICE

In addition to his service to CFT, John has serves on the board Dallas Economic Development Corporation. He was previously chair of the Dallas Regional Chamber, Chair of the United Way of Dallas, and on the board of Catholic Charities of Dallas, as well as the boards of numerous other educational and social service organizations. 

Additionally, John serves on the boards of publicly traded Freeport McMoran, Solid Power, and on the audit committee of a large, privately held Texas based retailer.
