As the director of Higher Education Programs for Success and Completion, Monica serves on the Higher Education and Workforce team. She also leads the Career Connect Texas program which works with statewide business and industry leaders, state agencies, regional intermediaries, and educational and workforce partners to develop innovative work-based learning experiences and pathways.
Before joining the higher education team, she served on the Educate Texas College and Career Readiness School Model team, providing technical support to designated schools, Early College high schools and Pathways in Technology schools.
Prior to joining CFT, Monica created pathways for college access through apprenticeships and workforce programs for Collin College, creating on-ramp programs for underrepresented groups and building opportunities to align curriculum and work-based learning. She has higher education experience in advising, student development and program development.
Monica holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master’s degree in counseling and a doctorate in adult and lifelong learning, all from the University of Arkansas. She is a former board member of the Black Alumni Society of the Arkansas Alumni Association and earned its alumni service award in 2015.
