Thear’s personal purpose is to inspire courageous actions in others so they can lead more impactful lives. She has a vision of a world in which everyone feels free and safe to be themselves, and use their gifts and talents to help others. As an expert connector of people and bold action, she shapes leaders making a positive difference in our world.
Thear is passionate about increasing leadership and philanthropic capacity in herself and others. Her community service leadership includes the boards of the Communities Foundation of Texas Board, SMU Lyle Engineering School Executive Board, the SMU Tate Lecture Series Board, and Co-Chair for the 50/50 Women on Boards – DFW Initiative. With the Texas Women’s Foundation, Thear served on the board for two terms and served as co-chair of the Economic Leadership Council.
Thear is a retired business executive with 29 years of professional services experience at EY and Accenture. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with Biomedical Engineering Specialization from SMU.

Thear has also served on the boards of the Dallas Holocaust & Human Rights Museum, Scouting America, and the National Asian/Pacific Islander Chamber of Commerce & Entrepreneurship. She is a member of the Dallas Assembly, International Women’s Forum, United Way Women of Tocqueville, and a founding member of the Orchid Giving Circle.
A Presidential Leadership Scholar, Thear is featured in President George W Bush’s new book, Out of Many, One – Portraits of America’s Immigrants. Thear’s leadership has been recognized with several awards, including the D CEO Corporate Excellence in Leadership, the SMU Distinguished Alumni Award, Women Leaders in Consulting Award, President of the United States Gold Volunteer Service Award, and Thear was named one of the most powerful business leaders in North Texas by D CEO.
