North Texas Giving Day Proclamation
September 23, 2021
WHEREAS
, Communities Foundation of Texas’ (CFT) annual North Texas Giving Day is the nation’s largest community-wide online giving event that empowers people locally and around the world to come together and raise critical funds for the nonprofits who make North Texas strong; and
WHEREAS
, Communities Foundation of Texas’ 13th annual North Texas Giving Day will take place on September 23, 2021; Since its inception in 2009, North Texas Giving Day has pumped more than $375 million into the local community, benefitting more than 3,000 local nonprofit agencies; In 2020, the 18-hour event raised a record-breaking $58.8 million, in addition to more than $20 million raised in the same year for Covid-19 relief efforts; and
WHEREAS
, Presenting North Texas Giving Day is one of the many ways the Communities Foundation of Texas serves as a hub for philanthropy; As the largest community foundation in Texas and one of the largest in the nation, CFT works with individuals, families, and companies to strengthen the community through a variety of charitable funds and strategic initiatives; and
WHEREAS
, On September 23, 2021, donations can be made from 6 a.m. to midnight to more than 3,200 certified local nonprofits in the 20 county region around DFW listed on www.NorthTexasGivingDay.org; And, from September 1-22, early donations can be made on the website in advance of Giving Day; I would like to thank CFT for powering this incredible day, and I encourage all Dallas residents to take part in this special event and support our local nonprofits by giving to them on North Texas Giving Day.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ERIC JOHNSON
, Mayor of the City of Dallas, and on behalf of the Dallas City Council, do hereby proclaim Thursday, September 23, 2021 as
NORTH TEXAS GIVING DAY
in Dallas, Texas.
