Established in 1989, Legacy Cares is a 501(c)3 organization in Dallas, Texas. The mission of Legacy Cares is to provide affordable and quality mental health care, substance abuse treatment, and special housing services to people in the North Texas area who are impacted by HIV/AIDS.

Legacy Cares’ board onboards members year-round, working with each candidate to determine the best timing for their term start date.
- Potential candidates should come with a “can-do” attitude and “fire in the belly” to give back to the community
- Board members should be willing to learn how to, or know how to, secure funding and partnerships that help advance the agency’s mission

- Attend monthly board meetings
- Each board member is responsible for $2,000 per year in sponsorships, personal donations, time volunteered, food, etc.
Board service terms last two years.
