Stomping Ground Comedy Theater & Training Center is a Dallas-based nonprofit focused on building connection, confidence, and community through improv. Over the years, it has grown into a creative home where people come to perform, train, and experience how powerful this work can be—on stage and in everyday life.
Every weekend, the theater produces original, experimental comedy. Performers are encouraged to take risks, try new ideas, and create work that feels fresh and specific to this community. Access to the stage is a priority, and there’s a real focus on developing local artists and building an ensemble that reflects the diversity and energy of Dallas.
That same spirit carries into the training center. Improv classes focus on listening, adaptability, collaboration, and trusting your instincts. Students grow their skills while becoming part of a larger creative community that connects directly to performance opportunities and continued artistic development.
Improv for Life brings this work into the broader community. Using the same core principles of improv, these programs support caregivers, students, professionals, and individuals navigating anxiety, communication challenges, and major life transitions. The work is practical, human, and immediately applicable—helping people build resilience, confidence, and stronger relationships.
All of this work is connected. The shows, the classes, and Improv for Life inform each other and strengthen the overall impact of the organization.
Stomping Ground partners with hundreds of organizations across the community, including schools, healthcare systems, nonprofits, and businesses. These partnerships allow the work to reach people where they are and expand its impact well beyond the theater.
Accessibility is a core value. Through scholarships, partnerships, and donation-based programming, the goal is to make sure cost is not a barrier to participation.
