Apply for a Grant

At CFT, we believe that a thriving community is one in which all people feel cared for, invested in, nourished and valued, and have an equitable opportunity to contribute to the well-being and growth of themselves, their families and their communities.

One of the ways we build a strong community is through our grants. Please see below for upcoming grant opportunities in the following categories:

The Letter of Inquiry process supports programs that address needs across the North Texas region (Collin, Dallas, Denton, Rockwall and Tarrant Counties). Through this process, each year, Communities Foundation of Texas provides approximately 25 to 35 mid-sized grants (about $10,000 to $20,000) to nonprofits in the region.

The funds are targeted towards programming within the fields of:

  • Older Adults
  • Human-Animal Connection
  • Community Services
  • Health
  • Environment
  • Racial Equity

In addition there are several special interest funds for nonprofits addressing specific needs.

Community Impact Grants are intended to make a strong impact on the community, and grant recipients are determined by our Board of Trustees and are currently focused on Teachers & Leaders and Economic Security of Low-Income Families.

W.W. Caruth, Jr. Fund Grants aim to build thriving communities for all supporting innovative organizations working in and across the fields of public safety, health and education. Organizations that need support to investigate, accelerate or replicate a social change initiative that serves the North Texas region are strongly encouraged to apply.
