Resources to help your nonprofit go further.

Our Grantmaking Process

As a community foundation, CFT manages a diverse range of funds. Our grantmaking primarily draws from discretionary funds – resources entrusted to us by donors to address the community’s most pressing needs. In every grant we award, we are committed to honoring the original donor’s intent while maximizing community impact. To ensure our funding is deeply aligned with our strategic goals and donor mandates, nearly all grant opportunities at CFT are now by invitation only. We proactively research and identify organizations whose missions align with specific funding priorities. The best way to ensure your organization is on our radar for future opportunities is to complete the Nonprofit Gateway Profile.

Join the CFT Nonprofit Gateway

CFT is dedicated to learning about and supporting the diverse nonprofit organizations serving our North Texas community. The Nonprofit Gateway form is designed to help our Philanthropy team better understand your mission, programs, and the populations you serve.

  • Informed Grantmaking: We use your data to shape our funding priorities and identify potential partners for invitation-only opportunities.
  • Marketing & Engagement: Your profile helps us find stories to highlight through North Texas Giving Day and other CFT platforms.
  • Stay on Our Radar: While not a grant application or a guarantee of funding, this ensures your work is seen by our team as new opportunities arise.

What to Expect:

Please note that completing this form is not a grant application or a direct request for funding. It does not guarantee funding, a follow-up meeting, or an invitation to apply. However, it is the primary way to ensure your organization’s efforts are on our radar. Our team will review your form and reach out if specific opportunities arise or if additional information is needed.

General Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for consideration for a grant from CFT, organizations must generally meet the criteria.

Spotlight: W.W. Caruth, Jr. Fund at CFT

Over the past 20 years, our W.W. Caruth, Jr. Fund has provided bold, visionary, large-scale risk capital for transformational North Texas projects in the areas of health, education, and public safety.

The W.W. Caruth, Jr. Fund is the largest fund at CFT, and has established a reputation for funding big ideas that have potential for transformative impact by pushing the boundaries on solutions to our most complex community issues. We know that many of today’s solutions must cross single-issue boundaries because the factors that affect health, education, and public safety are highly interconnected.
