Peter Brodsky, Jill Louis, and Christopher Reynolds Join CFT’s Board

CFT has welcomed three new members to its Board of Trustees, Peter S. Brodsky, Jill B. Louis and Christopher P. Reynolds. These new trustees will help guide CFT toward its vision of thriving communities for all.

CFT board members are selected for their diverse knowledge of community needs, record of charitable service, and fiscal responsibility. Trustees are tasked with overseeing the largest community foundation in Texas, and one of the largest in the nation. Since its founding in 1953, CFT has awarded $2.6 billion in grants. Trustees help plan and manage CFT’s assets across the more than 1,300 charitable funds that create substantial impact across our community.

Peter, Jill, and Chris are longtime community advocates with a passion for volunteerism and service, and our work will benefit from their expertise.”

NEW TRUSTEE: Peter S. Brodsky, Owner and Developer, The Shops at RedBird

Peter S. Brodsky is an investor and business executive who, through a majority-owned company, owns The Shops at RedBird (formerly known as Southwest Center Mall and, prior to that, Red Bird Mall). He is investing in the property to restore it to a place of pride and quality in the community.

Prior to acquiring RedBird, Peter was a founder and partner of HBC Investments LLC, a firm focused on investing both third-party capital and the capital of its principals in growth-oriented companies. Before co-founding HBC, Peter was a partner at the private equity firm of HM Capital Partners and its predecessor, Hicks Muse, where he was employed for over 15 years.

In the civic and nonprofit arenas, Peter serves as the Board Chair of Housing Forward (formerly Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance), the lead agency of Dallas and Collin Counties’ homeless response system. Peter also serves on the Boards of Commit Partnership; KIPP Texas Public Schools; the Trinity Park Conservancy; Forest Forward; the SMU Tate Lecture Series; and the Dallas Assembly. Additionally, Peter is a member of the Dallas Mavericks Advisory Council and the President’s Advisory Board of UT Southwestern Medical Center.

NEW TRUSTEE: Jill B. Louis, Managing Partner, Perkins Coie Law Firm Dallas Office

Jill Louis is the Managing Partner of the Dallas office of Perkins Coie law firm. Her experience includes leading strategic transactions for entrepreneurs, private equity sponsors, and portfolio companies, as well as members of the Fortune 50® with a particular emphasis on infrastructure, multi-location retail, transportation, manufacturing, and industrial sector matters.

In addition to her work in private practice, Jill served as the general counsel for a large private equity portfolio company with over $1 billion in annual revenue, operating heavy-duty parts distribution and service locations in 45 states. She also served as general counsel for a multinational shared workspace company with $600 million in revenue. For more than ten years, she led the transactions group for the retail operating company of a global courier delivery service, managing commercial and technology transactions in North America and Asia.

Jill is the chair of the board of directors of the AT&T Performing Arts Center and is a director of Thrivent. She’s also a frequent speaker on corporate governance and a member of the ABA Corporation Law Committee.

NEW TRUSTEE: Christopher (Chris) Reynolds, Executive Vice President, Toyota Motor North America

Christopher (Chris) Reynolds is the executive vice president and chief strategy officer for Toyota Motor North America (TMNA). He’s responsible for the functions of Strategy and Business Development, Human Resources, Research and Development, Corporate Shared Services, Sustainability & Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Social Innovation, Information Technology, OneTech and Connected Technologies across TMNA’s operations in the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada and Mexico.  

At global parent company Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), Reynolds functions as deputy chief officer, General Administration & Human Resources Group; deputy chief officer, Global Compliance; and deputy chief officer, Global Risk. Previously, Reynolds served for TMNA as executive vice president and chief administrative officer, Corporate Resources, head of North American Manufacturing operations, chief diversity officer and general counsel & chief legal officer. He also served as group vice president, chief environmental officer and corporate secretary of Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc.  

Before joining Toyota in 2007, Reynolds was a partner at the law firm of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in New York City. Earlier, Reynolds served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the criminal division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District of New York, and as a law clerk for Judge Damon J. Keith, U.S. Court of Appeals, 6th Circuit in Detroit.  

Reynolds is a member of the Board of Directors for Southwest Airlines and serves as vice-chair for the Board of AT&T Performing Arts Center in Dallas. He’s also a member of Alliance for Automotive Innovation’s board of directors.  

CFT’S BOARD LEADERSHIP

Richie Butler has completed a two-year term as board chair and will continue to support CFT as a dedicated board trustee. Richie is the Senior Pastor at St. Luke “Community” United Methodist Church, senior managing director of the Prescott Realty Group and the founder and chief visionary officer of Project Unity. 

Connie Blass O’Neill is the foundation’s new board chair, previously serving as vice chair. She has extensive board experience through her chairmanships of the boards of Children’s Medical Center Foundation, The Susan G. Komen Foundation and the Highland Park Education Foundation, and as a past board member of the Senior Source. Connie is a member of the board of trustees of Southern Methodist University and serves on the Momentous Institute boards of directors. She’s a past president of the Junior League of Dallas (JLD) and is currently chairing their Centennial Endowment Fund.  

Matrice Ellis-Kirk has been named vice chair. As founder and CEO of Ellis Kirk Group, Matrice has over 20 years of experience in the executive search industry with deep knowledge in governance. Matrice is the chair emeritus and life board member of the AT&T Performing Arts Center and is a board member of the Jefferies Financial Group. In 2022, she was named recipient of the 93rd Linz Award.  

TRIBUTES TO OUTGOING TRUSTEES

CFT extends deep appreciation to outgoing trustees Greg Campbell and Alfreda Norman who have completed their dedicated terms of board service.  

Greg Campbell (trustee 2020 – 2024) brought expertise to the board as a long-time entrepreneur, investor and real estate developer. He serves as president & CEO of Rainmaker, Inc., a strategic investment and advisory firm based in Dallas. 

Alfreda Norman (trustee 2015 – 2024) served as a board trustee at CFT for nearly a decade, including a term as board chair. She previously served as senior vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, leading the Dallas Fed’s communications and public outreach program. 

CFT CELEBRATES $158M IN GRANTS DISTRIBUTED IN FY24

Communities Foundation of Texas has continued to grow in both giving and impact. Since its founding in 1953, CFT has awarded more than $2.6 billion in cumulative grants to nonprofits. In Fiscal Year 2024, CFT received $178 million in gifts and distributed $158 million in grants to nonprofits. 

As of November 2024, the community’s generosity, coupled with CFT’s excellent investment returns, has helped grow the foundation’s assets to $1.7 billion, a 13% increase since last year. 

CFT’s 16th annual North Texas Giving Day raised over $70 million for more than 3,200 local nonprofits. This achievement brings the total raised through North Texas Giving Day to over $635 million since its inception.  

“These milestones reflect our ongoing commitment to creating meaningful and lasting impact in improving the lives of people in our communities,” said Wayne White
