About Allison

On September 21st, 1995 God sent a beautiful new light into the world. Allison Claire Brockette was the thrill of a lifetime for her first time parents. She was the OG…the first child, the first grandchild, and the first niece or nephew on both sides of her family! Her striking red hair gave indication of her fiery spirit, deep love, and loyalty.

Even as a young child, Allison committed whole heartedly to her interests. Allison worked hard to excel academically, overcoming a learning difference to achieve her goals. She was active with the Girl Scouts, earning her Gold Award. Allison was ordained as an elder in the Presbyterian church as a teen, and she adored her church youth group – spending time in fellowship, leadership, mission, and worship. She also enjoyed dancing, camping, and playing sports with friends. She relished time spent with her brothers, and extended family, especially trips to MO-Ranch, Lake Kiowa, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, New York, London, and Disney World.

After high school, she attended Oklahoma State University where she studied rigorously determined to forge a career in speech pathology. She joined Delta Delta Delta sorority where she found friends who supported and loved her unconditionally. She served as Philanthropy Chair, supporting the sorority’s primary cause, St. Jude Hospital. OSU was also where she first met her true love, Charlie Johnson.

After graduating from OSU with a Bachelor’s of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Allison earned a Master’s in Speech Language Pathology (SLP) from The University of Texas at Dallas. She found joy working in FWISD, developing relationships with students and their families, and collaborating with her fellow therapists and classroom teachers. She shared her gifts with the Child Find program and Home Health which provide early childhood services. She passionately advocated for each child finding their individual voice through vocalizations or technology. She relished their unique personalities and strengths.

In her spare time, she crocheted, read with book clubs, and participated in the young adult ministries at church. She also spent many hours with The Herd, her running group, participating in 4 half-marathons including the St. Jude Memphis Marathon. She cherished long walks along the Trinity River with Charlie and her dog Hallie.

On December 29th, 2024, Allison married Charlie Johnson – two months following Allison’s diagnosis with a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Charlie never waivered – balancing his early career with the opportunities of a new marriage, the demands of new home ownership, and the rigors of Allison’s cancer treatments. With Charlie and other family by her side, Allison fought courageously…managing her care and treatment and hanging on for her family and loved ones.

Above all else, Allison created and valued relationships. In her final days, she spent time connecting with her most cherished friends and families. She also expressed thanksgiving for Dr. Gill Kirkpatrick and Devora Herskovits, RN, for their medical expertise, and more importantly, their compassion and commitment to her emotional and spiritual well-being.

Allison is survived by her loving and devoted husband Charlie Johnson, parents Michele and Pat Brockette, brothers Ryan and Carson Brockette, grandfather Sam Atkins, aunt Paige Wenaas (Christopher) and uncle Jeff Brockette (Kristin), cousins Jenna and Sam (Maia) Wenaas, cousins William and Kathryn Brockette.

She was preceded by grandparents Cathy Atkins and Carmella and Joe Brockette.
