Mallory Beth Blackwell Advocacy Fund

Our precious daughter, Mallory, was one of a kind. She was courageous, caring, funny, brilliant, beautiful, determined, sweet and wise beyond her years. If you were fortunate enough to know her, you were that much better for it. Mallory was truly the epitome of grace, even as she fought her way through life’s challenges.

Her life deserves celebration and our family feels such comfort and hope in founding The Mallory Beth Blackwell Advocacy Fund. And in doing so, we ask each of you to consider making a donation. The focus of her fund will be to support special-needs organizations and locally-run businesses that employ those with learning differences.

Her love of teaching began when Mallory volunteered in the special education class at her high school and connected with a special student, Josue. She lit-up around these students and they responded so positively to her. This quickly evolved into her passion and career. She chose to major in Education in college and Shelton School provided her with the opportunity to teach her own class of children with learning differences. Her students adored her; colleagues were constantly inspired by her.

It is our wish that Mallory be remembered for her bigger-than-life heart and her pure selflessness. She always put others’ needs first; advocating for the underdog, seeking out the person in the room who felt alone, and making everyone around her feel loved and valued just as they were. Perhaps we all should try and be a little more like Mallory in our day to day lives.

We would be remiss if we didn’t mention her love of everything Broadway, all things Taylor Swift and just about every book she could get her hands on.

As her Hebrew name, Barucha reminds us, she was a blessing. Your light will shine forever, our sweet Mallory Beth.
