Plunk Family Fund

The Plunk Family Fund at Communities Foundation of Texas was established in 2021. Since that time, the Plunk family has supported organizations and causes focused on humanitarian efforts, including food insecurity, veteran and family welfare, and education.

The passing of our husband and father, Jake Plunk, on Thursday, May 21, 2026, has devastated our family. He was a dedicated husband and father who loved his family more than anything.  Jake and Charlyn were one day shy of celebrating thirty-three wonderful years together. As we try to navigate the unimaginable, we hope to honor Jake through the causes and community he cared about most.

Jake graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in petroleum engineering and proudly served as a member of Texas Tech’s Petroleum Engineering Academy, the Industry Advisory Board, and the Engineering Dean’s Council. He was deeply passionate about education, especially STEM education, and understood firsthand the life-changing value of scholarships. Together, Jake and Charlyn established multiple scholarships at Texas Tech to help support future generations of students.

Jake believed deeply in giving together as a family. It is our hope that gifts made to our family fund will allow us to honor his legacy in meaningful ways as we take time to grieve, catch our breath, and learn how to move forward without our husband and dad.

Thank you for helping us celebrate Jake’s life through generosity and compassion.
