“The wise will inherit honor…” ~Proverbs 3:35a
Kae and Warren Wise loved people. Whether it was friends from 42 club, churchgoers in Sunday school class, or the parking lot attendant at their Dallas Apparel Mart business, people confided in Warren and Kae because they knew they were genuine, trustworthy, and empathetic no matter the circumstance. More than a few times, community members sought counsel from the Wises, knowing they would gain confidential, meaningful partners in prayer.
Kae and Warren also helped others financially. For those too embarrassed to ask but struggling to make ends meet, Kae and Warren might slip a check for a month’s rent in the mailbox or hide cash in a Cracker Jack box for friends short on gas money. Their generosity further grew as they channeled their resources into life-giving charities and nonprofits. When Warren passed away in 1991 after a battle with cancer, Kae continued to support ministries and charities that brought life, truth, and hope to all. Upon Kae’s death in 2023, it was this discipline of giving that inspired Kae and Warren’s family to continue their spirit of generosity through the creation of their fund at Communities Foundation of Texas. It is a comfort to know that because of this fund, the Wise’s memory and legacy of giving will be honored for generations.
