CFT for Business and Be In Good Company members #DoTheGood
CFT hosted in-person and virtual service projects, as well as educational sessions for its CFT for Business members and partners. Each volunteer opportunity aligned with CFT’s four intersectional grantmaking priorities: Health, Wealth, Living, and Learning. At CFT, we see these focus areas as pillars in building a thriving community. Each week of April featured a different pillar with multiple volunteer opportunities for partners to engage in.
Health
The first week’s focus was on health, and volunteers worked with local nonprofit partners elevating the well-being of North Texans. The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas prepared 13,000 meals at the North Texas Food Bank.
Badmus & Associates, Bank of Texas, Risch Results, and CFT fundholders prepared 1,500 meals for DISD students at Hunger Busters. To close the first week, CFT staff and members worked with Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center to bring awareness to its #SaveJane event.
Living
The second week of service focused on living. Texadia Systems changed the lives of homebound individuals by volunteering with Texas Ramp Project, building three wheelchair ramps. CFT team members, CFT fund holders, and employees from the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and Atmos Energy helped maintain a clean shelter at Jonathan’s Place, a nonprofit providing a safe and loving home for neglected youth.
Twelve Hills Nature Center welcomed volunteers from SFMG Wealth Advisors, American Red Cross, and CFT for Business so they could prepare the center for nature walks and educational sessions.
Learning
Learning and education were the focus of the third week of National Volunteer Month. The American First Finance team visited The Senior Source to beautify its facility and play games with residents. Atmos Energy and CFT staff worked with the Network of Community Ministries to make companion calls to nearly 230 seniors.
Volunteers from Bioworld Merchandising and Atmos Energy spent a day at Mosaic Freedom House beautifying the emergency shelter. Lastly, CFT’s Emerging Leaders in Philanthropy members and alumni met at Hunger Busters to prepare over 200 meals for DISD students in need of a third meal of the day.
Wealth
To wrap up the month, CFT focused on wealth (economic security). Team members from American First Finance, CFT, Santander Consumer USA, and Shields Group visited CitySquare to stock, pack, and distribute almost 16,200 lbs. of groceries. Beacon Hill Preparatory Institute hosted a Virtual Career Day for K-3rd grade students. Volunteers from CFT, BFS Advisory Group, Catalyst Health Group, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas talked about their careers and job fields and inspired students.
Volunteers from CFT, D Magazine, Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, and Santander Consumer USA spent a day at POETIC, recycling paper into cards and gift tags sold to raise money for formerly trafficked women and youth.
Cedar Hill ISD also hosted a Career Day, with volunteers from CFT Staff, Educate Texas Staff, Texas Instruments, SFMG Wealth Advisors, DHD Films, Entrepreneur’s Organization, MacArthur Medical Center, Accelerate LLC, Veritex Community Bank, Shields Group, Kalterra Construction, Total Patient Services, Embé and Stewart Law Group.
CFT Staff, BFS Advisory Group, Catalyst Health Group, Marketwave, Santander Consumer USA, SFMG Wealth Advisors, and Shields Group met at Frisco Family Services to tackle several projects. Volunteers beautified their courtyard, unloaded a full truck of food donations, and more!
Gratitude to those who helped #DoTheGood
Our efforts couldn’t have been possible without the support of sponsor Santander Consumer USA, who helped CFT host projects that worked toward building financial resilience and economic opportunity for all. We’d also like to thank Veritex Community Bank for sponsoring National Volunteer Month’s Cedar Hill ISD project.
We’re extending a special thank you to our Cornerstone sponsors who helped power National Volunteer Month: Bioworld Merchandising, Hunt Energy, Hunt Realty Investments, and Shields Group.
Thank you to each of our member companies and their employees who took the time to #DoTheGood in our community throughout April. More than 400 volunteers from 39 companies completed over 2,100 hours of service with 26 nonprofit partners.
We also want to thank FWD>DFW and VOMO, who partnered with us to create a National Volunteer Month online hub of available opportunities. Together, we invited community members to search and sign up for more than 150+ service projects. Volunteers could search for projects by issue area, date, or by “anytime” projects featuring organizations in need of ongoing volunteer support! This effort resulted in 1,900 volunteers giving more than 8,850 volunteer hours!
