Austin Street Center Launches Fundraising Effort to Support Families Displaced by Oak Cliff Apartment Explosion

Communities Foundation of Texas Joins with Other Local Funders to Support 19 Families Rebuilding After Tragedy

Austin Street Center, in partnership with the City of Dallas and Communities Foundation of Texas as the lead funder, alongside The Dallas Foundation, Muse Family Foundation, and other partners, has launched a coordinated effort to support 19 families displaced by the May 28 Oak Cliff apartment explosion.

At the request of the City of Dallas, Austin Street Center is coordinating recovery support. All 19 families have secured temporary housing, and efforts are now focused on closing remaining funding gaps needed for long-term recovery.

Funding will help cover at least 6 months of rent, transportation support, and other essential services as families move toward stability.

“Communities Foundation of Texas is donating to Austin Street Center’s efforts to help the families impacted by this tragedy as they begin to rebuild. We are grateful to all the donors who have joined thus far and hope others will be inspired to support our neighbors in need,” said Robert Kent, Chief Philanthropy Officer at Communities Foundation of Texas.

“When crisis strikes our community, we come together,” said Daniel Roby, Chief Executive Officer of Austin Street Center. “Every dollar matters. Any gift, no matter the size, helps families take the next step toward rebuilding their lives.”

Communities Foundation of Texas, as lead funder, is partnering with Austin Street Center, The Dallas Foundation, Muse Family Foundation, the City of Dallas, Catholic Charities, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, American Red Cross, and Mission Oak Cliff to coordinate the response and maximize community support.
